About St Nicholas Diocesan School

St Nicholas Diocesan School is an Anglican, independent, co-educational, day and boarding school from Grade RR to Grade 12 (with boarding from Grade 6).

We offer affordable, private education and are proud members of ISASA and the IEB. Our medium of instruction is English and we strive to offer a holistic education in a secure and caring environment, where all children are given sufficient oportunities to realise their potential. The needs of the ‘whole child are catered for – intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and cultural.

Celebrating our 30th year, St Nicholas has grown in leaps and bounds in all areas. Under the current leadership of Mr Leon Grové as Principal and Mr Kamal Rugbar as Junior School Headmaster, the staff focus on teaching cognitive, emotional and social skills while ensuring rigorous academic content and unique learning experiences. We have a strong focus on developing character and values in our learners in an environment that fosters a sense of belonging and connection to our community.

At the heart of St Nicholas is our Christian faith. This is reflected in our motto – GOD LEADS. Our Anglican ethos is nurtured in class and school devotions, as well as regular Eucharists.

We are always prepared to go the extra mile to ensure our learners reach their full potential.

Co-curricular activities include participation in most major sporting codes but also allows for those with diverse interests such as dance, drama, marimbas and steel drums, choir, outreach, Eco Club, and the President’s Award to shine in their chosen field. Tours and excursions are a regular occurrence in all spheres of life at St Nicholas.

Our facilities focus on helping us achieve this holistic education for your child, including digital classrooms, two well-equipped media centres, a music centre, a drama centre, basketball courts, sports fields, a lovely pool and an indoor sports centre. We unveiled our “Makerspace” Workshop in honour of our 30th Anniversary. This space will allow our learners the opportunity to problem solve and collaborate with one another. It provides them with a venue for combining creativity with practical application.

Our highly qualified staff contingent are constantly being developed in order for them to be effective teachers with 21st century skills (critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity) to ensure that we prepare our learners for an uncertain future.

Our school has a well-established boarding culture with separate establishments for boys and girls, from Grade 6 to 12. Our dedicated boarding staff ensure that our boarders have a structured routine, nutritious meals, weekly church services, youth programmes, educational outings and a true sense of family.

A deep love for children and a strong focus on developing the whole child is what drives St Nicholas. We invite you to become a member of our family and join us on this journey of discovery and wonder.

“We are not just a school, we are a family.”
