St. Nicholas Diocesan School
It is with profound sadness and deep shock that we announce the passing of our beloved Grade 1 Teacher, Miss Maxine Simkiss, who sadly passed away on Thursday, 14 May, after a sudden and unexpected deterioration in her condition following a few days in hospital. Miss Simkiss was also the daughter of our school Bursar, Mrs Susan Simkiss, and the sister of our High School Art Teacher, Mr Cormac Simkiss. Miss Simkiss was an exceptional teacher, colleague and human being who served the children and families of St Nicholas Diocesan School with extraordinary love, dedication and compassion for the past fourteen years. She was a phenomenal and deeply creative educator whose classroom was filled with warmth, joy, imagination and care. Her passion for teaching and her unwavering love for her children touched the lives of so many within our school community. Beyond her remarkable gifts as a teacher, Miss Simkiss was a caring and supportive colleague who brought kindness, gentleness and light to those around her. Her passing has left our entire school family heartbroken, and the loss we feel is immense. Over the coming days, we will continue to support our children, staff and families with great care and sensitivity. Our school Counsellor, Chaplain and staff will be available to provide emotional and pastoral support to those who may need it during this incredibly difficult time. As a school community, we will walk this journey together, holding one another up with love, compassion and prayer as we honour the beautiful life and legacy of Miss Simkiss.Miss Simkiss was an amazing daughter, sister, partner to Mr Yenzi Khumalo and the world's best mum to three precious boys, whom she loved with her whole being. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and hold them up in prayer. May the peace of our Lord which surpasses all understanding surround them and may the Holy Spirt be their comfort and strength during this very tragic and heartbreaking time.We are going to painfully miss you Maxine, we will always love you and never forget you. Rest in peace our beloved Miss Simkiss. ... See MoreSee Less
